Uganda Local Government Workers’ Union has called off their national wide industrial action following assurances from the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, that she will engage government to resolve the current low pay and salary disparities among them.
Addressing the media at Verina Gardens in Kasese Municipality yesterday, Mr. Godwin Bihanikire, the union general secretary for Kasese said the development follows the 8th October 2025 union leadership meeting with Rt. Hon. Among, who acknowledged the legality of the strike but calling it off, would give space for engagements with government ahead of the 2026/7 budgeting process.
